🛸 BRING ART TO LIFE USING 3D ANIMATION

In this 4-session SELF-PACED course, students will learn fundamental animation techniques and then have the confidence to apply what they learn to their creations. Skills covered in the course include but are not limited to: moving objects in space, recording mouse movements to create natural animations, keyframing, interpolation, parenting and rigs. The lessons follow an “I do, you do” approach.

🎨 YOUR CREATION

Students will be given artistic 3D models to work with. This hopes to inspire learners to feel that they are participating in the creation of an animated film! For the final project, each student will animate one or all of the vehicles (as shown in the thumbnail). 🌴 The backdrop will be the surreal floating island created in the low-poly technique: https://wonderstand.gumroad.com/l/floatingisland

🎬 ABOUT BLENDER 3D

Blender 3D is a free, user-friendly software used to create animated films, visual effects, motion graphics, virtual reality and computer games. This is a perfect starting point in your exploration in the world of 3D Animation. Understand the basic principles and discover your potential in this exciting field.

💻 COMPUTER SPECS

Blender 3D requires a graphics card with at least 1 GB of memory. This is not available on Chromebooks or some computers. If you are running games on your computer, then it should be enough for this class.

A mouse will facilitate commands and navigation.

👉 PARTICIPATION & COLLABORATION

There are no live meetings. Advance at your own pace! Students access video lessons and follow step-by-step instructions. Should questions arise, they can contact the teacher for feedback and support. At each step, students will be following guidelines but their work with animation will be original. The class will culminate in the creation of an animated piece.

🙋🏽LEVEL/ABILITY

No prior experience in Blender is required. This class is geared towards absolute beginners who are curious to express their creativity through digital art. Basic computer literacy is expected: downloading and saving files, uploading files and messaging on the OS Classroom page. The course is also suitable for intermediate users who are taking their first steps into animation!

⏰ SELF-PACED CLASS: No live meetings. All communication is done via Google classroom. Please ensure you have a gmail account.
